- Commodity name: Condensation test
Condensation testing is designed to evaluate electronic components installed in humid environments, simulating conditions such as diurnal temperature fluctuations, alternating hot–cold cycles, and indoor/outdoor variations in temperature and humidity—scenarios in which surface or internal moisture condenses into droplets. This testing verifies the product’s resistance to humidity, corrosion, and insulation reliability, while reproducing customer‑reported RMA failures caused by condensation, including electrical leakage, corrosion, and intermittent malfunctions. It also assesses the robustness of sealing, environmental protection, and moisture‑proof packaging designs. Although condensation alone typically does not cause product failure, when combined with other factors, it can trigger physical or chemical changes that compromise product safety and quality.
Test Method
Electrical pre‑inspection: At room temperature, test the overall functionality, insulation resistance, leakage current, and continuity; retain the initial measurement data.
Sample placement: Place the samples in a temperature‑and‑humidity chamber, arranging them in their actual vehicle‑loading orientation and leaving adequate space for moisture to circulate to prevent water accumulation.
Equipment setup: Set the temperature, humidity, and number of cycles, and connect the live‑monitoring circuit.
Moisture‑absorption heating section: temperature is raised from 25°C to 55°C, with relative humidity maintained at a constant 93% to allow the enclosure and PCB to fully adsorb moisture.
High-temperature moisturizing stage: 55°C/93% RH, maintained to enhance moisture absorption within the material.
Cooling and condensation section (core): The temperature is slowly reduced from 55°C to 25°C, with relative humidity maintained at 93% RH; the product surface temperature remains below the dew point, resulting in a thin film of condensed water droplets on the surface.
Operates under live conditions throughout, with real-time monitoring for communication anomalies, leakage current, and alarms.
